Crownical Church of the Good Shepherd – March, 2026

At the Church of the Good Shepherd, we are grateful to everyone who has made it possible for us to continue our Sunday services and holy day celebrations in this time of transition!  With your help, we have been able to maintain and continue to strengthen our parish relationships and ministries even in the absence of a settled priest.  Thank you to our representatives on the cluster search committee for their work toward identifying that priest that God is preparing for us.

At our annual meeting in February, we thanked Ruba Haddad for her service on the vestry and welcomed Kim Murphy as a new at-large member.  We also approved amendments to our constitution and bylaws that reflect our membership in the Aroostook Episcopal Cluster.

We celebrated Rev Ginny’s 80th birthday at a potluck lunch after church last weekend.  We showered her with good food, an ice cream cake, cards, and lots of love.  Rev Ginny served as our priest for many years and continues to pastor us in so many ways.  She makes herself available to parishioners in need, organizes our annual coat giveaway, and leads Wednesday compline services.

On Thursdays at lunchtime, you will find the tables set for the Aroostook Area Agency on Aging’s congregate meals.  Volunteers, some of whom are Good Shepherd parishioners, help prepare and serve a nutritious meal to anyone over 60 who wants to come together for lunch in a social setting.  We are just getting started and building up to our potential of 36 meals each week.  The meals are free, but donations are encouraged.  We are happy to see our building used as a blessing in our community!

Thanks to generous memorial gifts in 2025, we are able to have Vintage Glass Works come up to do some repair on the stained glass windows in our sanctuary.  This work will add to the beauty of our church and the integrity of our building.  Parishioners attending our annual meeting saw it as a fitting memorial to Rev. Leslie Nesin, Frannie Grant, Glenna Murphy, and Susan Pierce.

We continue to seek an organist or someone who can play our keyboard to accompany hymns on Sunday morning.  If anyone knows of a musician or student who would like to earn a little extra money and can help us out in this way, please let us know.
